Perimenopause and the menopause and the impact it has on us as women has never been talked about so openly and without shame.

Considering this is something that we have or will all go through at some point in our lives, it is so important to get the right level of understanding about what this stage means, the impact it can have on us both physically and mentally and most importantly receive the right care to support us through what can be a difficult and challenging time of our lives.

Not to sound too L'Oreal about the whole thing but, we are worth it. We deserve this attention and more than ever we should be demanding the care we deserve.

I have had a lot of questions recently from clients about whether as we enter perimenopause, go through menopause or whether starting HRT can cause changes in our skin and the answer is of course YES!

This doesn't happen for everyone it would be naive to think that, but large fluxes and changes in hormone levels will have an impact on our skin. Whether that is a decrease in oil production leaving your skin feeling parched, a surge in oil production and breakouts thanks to HRT or suddenly feeling like our faces have sagged/fallen off a cliff. These delightful side effects are all linked to hormonal imbalances.

One thing that has struck me is the tendency for larger companies to offer a one size fits all solution which is absolutely not the solution. All of our symptoms and our skin response to these fluctuations will be different so suggesting one “beauty” box or product will fix things for every women is unrealistic and feels quite patronising. We have always focused on the individual and have never been brand affiliated and therefore prescriptive to what we use on clients or suggest will work for them.

I have thought long and hard about what I can do to help support my clients who are experiencing symptoms and how we can help improve their daily lives while they are getting to grips with all the other issues they may be having while still maintaining our ethos and making sure our clients get the best possible care.

Instead of offering a “menopause” facial which feels disingenuous we are instead offering our same Signature Facial (60mins with LED or Microcurrent) but including a complimentary skincare review to make sure we are suggesting the best possible products to support your through this period of change. We will also offer a donation to The Menopause Charity for every bottle of our Signature Blend Facial Oil that is purchased as part of a menopausal skincare edit.

There is more information below but, as always if anyone has any questions or suggestions I would be delighted to hear from you.
